The Music of Couture: Stravinsky and Chanel’s Paris

  • The Forum at Town Hall Seattle 1119 8th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98101 United States (map)

100 years after Coco Chanel sold her first bottle of No.5, SMCO explores the vibrant music of the fledgling Parisian world of couture. The Soldier's Tale, a dramatic suite of music by her rumored lover Igor Stravinsky, is joined on the program by Germaine Tailleferre's dream-like Image and other ebullient music of Paris' Jazz Age, including The Creation of the World by Darius Milhaud and La revue de cuisine by Bohuslav Martinů. The Otto Bar is open, serving refreshments inside Town Hall's intimate Forum performance space.
